Insulation

Day 71 - Here are a few pictures from during the week. I have been busy since the weekend installing all the extra electrical and data cables. I will explain what we did later. It took three days and I have a few more cables to fix up tomorrow. I will take lots of photos over the weekend before the plaster starts.
The brick work is almost finished. Uh Oh - Here comes the big bill!

On Monday the insulation was delivered. Below is the rumpus which was full. There was more in the kitchen area. We are have had the lower floor insulated as well as the walls and ceiling. Also area such as the rumpus, laundry, toilet and bathrooms will have the Bradford Soundscreen Plus. On the weekend I will add more to the bedrooms.

My goodness that is alot of insulation!!! You should have a very comfortable house!
Have to ask re day 71 - was day 1 when the site was scraped?
Things seem to be moving along very quickly.

I think Mike might collapse from exhaustion after the last 2 weekends. He has put insulation into every single wall you could think of this weekend. It was a very rushed post this week, he will have more time next week as he will probably be locked out of the house :-)
Hi H2B - Yes, Day 71 is from 14.2.08 when the site was scraped. Things do seem to be progressing nicely, hopefully they don't lose momentum once the house is locked up!

Hi Marita,
Poor Mike he's been busy, worth it in the long run though. I'm hoping our future SS will allow us to do this too. We were told at Tender that we would not be allowed to do anything on site with house in regards to insultation or home theatre wiring etc.....will wait and see.
I suppose things will slow down somewhat when they move inside but I think that's a good thing. You want them to go a bit slower and do a better job.
My parents will be in Melb. in August so going by your build they should hopefully see something that resembles a house - fingers crossed!

Looking good, guys. So, did you get PD to do any insulation, or did you organise that ypurselves? I'm wondering, b/c I've seen so many bloggers putting it in, some of whom are doing it through PD, and it was never offered, or suggested to us by them. Not sure what we'll do...haven't had a lot to do with SS yet, and we haven't looked into the insulation itself yet....hmmmm....one more thing to think about!!!

Hi Petal, You may find that insulation in the external walls is included in order to meet the five-star energy ratings, should be listed on your plans. We got PD to do all the external walls and some internal walls, Mike did the rest.
